FAQs About Hardwood Floor Refinishing

Including UV hardened Floor Coatings

UVEECO floor coating instantly cured with UV light in locations across Wyoming.

What is the process of refinishing a wood floor?

The first step is to remove the current finish on your floor. Once down to the bare wood we sand the floor to remove any scratches. Next an oil-based finish or a water-based finish is applied. A water-based finish dries in about 4 hours and will be ready to use in 3 or 4 days, while an oil-based finish dries in around 9 hours and will take 5 or more days before it can be used again.
Here is the UVEECO™ method of refinishing a wood floor:

  • Remove the current finish.
  • Sand the wood floor to remove any scratches.
  • Apply UVEECO™ coating and allow to dry for up to 4 hours.
  • Cure the dried floor using an ultra violet light machine.
  • Most home floors are ready to use the same day.

Which is better, oil or water-based finishes?

Oil finishes are very inexpensive and very stinky. Water based finishes are superior in every way except price. Water based finishes are safer and nearly odor free, are up to ten times more durable, and are available in matte, satin, and high-gloss finishes.

UVEECO™ is a water-based finish that is cured instantly with ultra violet light. Most floors are ready to use the same day while traditional water-based finishes need up to 4 days before they’re ready to use again.

How is dust controlled when refinishing a floor?

All of our machines use high end dust collection systems that are made specifically for each machine. These machines use a high powered vacuum system that keep your home, business, or school as clean as possible. Before our finish is applied to the floor we properly vacuum and tack our floors to ensure that all dust is removed from the surface of your floor.

Who is responsible for moving furniture and appliances off of the floor?

Clients are responsible for moving all of their belongings off of their floors before refinishing work can begin.

How long does it take to sand and refinish hardwood floors?

A traditional wood floor refinishing job in a house takes 2 days when a polyurethane coating is used. With a UV cured coating this is cut in half - most jobs are completed and ready to use the same day.

How long do you have to stay off hardwood floors after refinishing?

Traditional hardwood floor finishes can be walked on (without shoes) within 24 to 48 hours and the odor will linger for a week or more. You can walk on a UV cured hardwood floor immediately and there will be virtually no lingering odors.

How do I clean and maintain newly refinished UVEECO™ floors?

A water-based cleaner is needed to maintain a UV cured finish. Oil-based cleaners will deteriorate and cause dullness in your floor's finish over time.

How often do I need to re-coat my wood floor?

Every floor is different, but here is a good general guideline:

  • Residential: 3 - 5 Years
  • Commercial: Every 2 Years
  • Gymnasium/Sport Courts: Every 2 Years

Wood floor refinishing services Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming.
